National Nonprofit Day is an annual observance that celebrates the significant contributions made by nonprofits to society. This day, which falls on August 17th each year, provides an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the impact of these organizations on our communities.
History of National Nonprofit Day
The history of National Nonprofit Day can be traced back to 2017 when Sherita J. Herring, a renowned philanthropist and social entrepreneur, established it as a way to raise awareness about the essential work done by nonprofits. The aim is not only to acknowledge their efforts but also to inspire individuals and businesses to get involved in supporting these organizations.
Giving plays a crucial role in empowering nonprofits and enabling them to continue their valuable work. Donations provide the necessary resources for nonprofits to deliver vital services, support causes, and make a positive impact on society. Whether it’s through monetary contributions or volunteering time and skills, giving allows individuals to contribute directly towards making a difference.
On National Nonprofit Day, there are several ways you can show your support. Firstly, consider donating funds or resources directly to your favorite nonprofit organization. Many nonprofits have online platforms where you can make secure donations easily.
Additionally, volunteering your time can be immensely valuable for nonprofits. Reach out to local organizations and inquire about opportunities where you can lend a helping hand. Whether it’s participating in events or assisting with administrative tasks, your contribution will be greatly appreciated.
Another way you can give back on this holiday is by spreading awareness about the work of nonprofits through social media campaigns or organizing fundraisers within your community. By raising awareness about specific causes or encouraging others to donate, you are amplifying the impact of nonprofit organizations.
How CGM Makes a Difference in Our Community
The communities that we serve are amongst the most impoverished areas, lacking access to fresh and healthy food, limited medical care which has been devastating throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and minimal access to educational and occupational resources.
In addition to the lack of access to basic necessities, these communities are also under a significant amount of religious oppression making it incredibly difficult for them to safely and freely practice their Christian faith and worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In conclusion, National Nonprofit Day serves as a reminder of the significant role that nonprofit organizations play in improving our society. It is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the value they bring and find ways we can contribute towards their mission through donations, volunteering, or raising awareness.
